Muhammad Fauzan Ansyari, S.Pd.I., MSc., PhD.

Director

Dr. Ansyari is an associate professor at the Postgradute Programmes of Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, Indonesia. He is also an affiliated researcher at United Nations University-Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT), the Netherlands. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in English Language Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Science and Technology with a specialisation in Curriculum, Instruction and Media Applications from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His doctoral degree was obtained from the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics in the Netherlands. In addition to his formal education, he participated in several formal and non-formal education such as the International Visitors’ Leadership Program (IVLP) in the US.

His research interests focus on the role of education in sustainability or sustainable development, digitalisation and economic transformation, educational technology, teacher professional development, and teaching English to speakers of other languages. His research currently employs an interdisciplinary approach and various (mixed) methods such as studying education using Econometrics and supervised machine learning. He has published his research in a number of peer-reviewed journals, including Educational Research ReviewTeaching and Teacher Education, Journal of Professional Capital and Community and Australasian Journal of Educational Technology.

Dr. Ansyari involves in a number of international and national projects. He worked on a project from the International Telecommunication Unions (ITU) as an expert in digital skills development in tandem with researchers from the UNU-MERIT/Maastricht University and London School of Economics (LSE). He was also a lead researcher at UNESCO and UNICEF for a project on digital technology and learning. In Indonesia, he has been involved in many projects for the capacity building of teachers/educators as well as curriculum development at various levels of education in Indonesia, funded by the Indonesian government and foreign government/institutions.

Dr. Kunaifi, ST., PgDipEnSt., MSc.

Dr. Kunaifi is an Assistant Professor in sustainable energy at UIN Suska Riau, a public university in Indonesia. Kunaifi has been teaching sustainable energy-related courses since 2010.  He has a wealth of experience as a consultant and project manager in sustainable energy. He has led and was involved in 25+ energy consulting projects funded mainly by European, Indonesian, and local government institutions. His main research topics include solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, hybrid-microgrid power systems, renewable energy, energy conservation, sustainability, and circularity. He is a specialist in designing and developing sustainable energy systems with a few implementations experience, ranging from small-scale to megawatt-scale systems. He works on extensive data analysis and has conducted workshops on data analysis for energy systems.

Kunaifi has a PhD in solar photovoltaic systems from the University of Twente – The Netherlands, an M.Sc. in Renewable Energy, and a PgDip. in Energy Studies, both from Murdoch University in Western Australia. He is the author of three books, more than five journal articles, more than ten conference papers, four community service reports, and over 25 project reports. He has been invited to speak in nearly 35 sustainable energy events. 

He co-founded the Energy Research Group (EnReach) at UIN Suska Riau and was Chair for the first five-year term.

Dr. Dodi Settiawan, M.Pd.

Secretary

Dr. Settiawan is a lecturer at the Education and Teacher Training Faculty at UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, as well as the curriculum and assessment coordinator at the university’s language center. He teaches pre service Islamic middle and high school teachers, focusing primarily on the Indonesian national curriculum. His research interests are Curriculum Design and Development, Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education, Technology Integration in Education, Teacher Professional Development, Extensive Reading for Teaching Language, and Media Literacy Education.
